“…Hello, my name is Neill MacKenzie product creator, online tutor and internet marketer with a background in various niches. I have been earning money online since 1999 – yes I know, an age ago in internet terms. My first successful website was in the e-commerce field, a hobby site selling personalised Christmas gifts which I and my my wife created. The internet was in its infancy and their was a steep learning curve to adjust to and mistakes were made.Cheque from first ever customer.
Learning Lessons
My site was aimed at the UK market however in Feb 1999 I received a cheque for $2.10 from a customer in the USA. Although it was great to receive this cheque it would cost me more than twice its face value to convert it into sterling – so I kept it for posterity. My first international sale. Brilliant. But in those days there was no PayPal or other method of accepting payments. Accepting credit cards was the only other option but this would be an expensive step. However, it had to be done and before too long I was a customer of the next major player taking internet payments – WorldPay. That first site went on to build a list of over 8,000 paying customers with whom I had a very good relationship. The site operated for nearly ten years on a part time basis whilst I was in full time employment. Although I had some affiliate marketing experience with the on-line store, by 2010 I started to take it a lot more seriously. I took up with a mentor and following his advice, I earned my first commission from Amazon in April that same year. It was only a small amount but they became larger and larger as the months went on. The potential for further success was now enormous. I could copy the strategy used for building that first money-making website to make other money-making websites – the possibilities were, and still are endless.
So What Now?
Teaching QualificationWell, my first love has always been product creation – both tangible and digital – and at the moment I am busy creating as many products as I can. But I am also a qualified tutor having passed the UK’s City & Guilds Certificate in Delivering Learning Course back in 2006 and I have plenty of experience in tutoring and presenting to groups. I am now able to combine my product creation skills with my desire to teach for the benefit of others. My lifestyle means I am also fortunate enough to be able to spend my time working from at home full time in the UK during the summer before moving to Spain for the winter months – what an excellent life. Despite still being very busy I do like to “give back” whenever I can by offering my knowledge and experience to those who may seek it out.
